About

Xian Yang Tee, PhD

Engineering leader · Test & measurement systems

I'm an engineering leader with a PhD in physics. I lead the development of precision measurement equipment: setting the technical direction and system architecture, building and developing the team, managing suppliers and customers, and staying close enough to the hardware, software and algorithms to make the hard technical calls myself.

Most recently I led an automated photonic wafer prober from first specification to systems running in customer production. I set the architecture, led a small engineering team and international suppliers, invented the calibration and alignment algorithms behind six pending patent applications, directed and contributed to the control software, and took the systems through installation, commissioning and customer acceptance. Before that I led the build of measurement systems and cryogenic cells for spintronics research, developed diffusion processes for solar-cell manufacturing, and worked with semiconductor-packaging customers as a sales engineer.

My PhD grounded me in the science of measurement: designing out noise to reach nanovolt precision, validating an instrument before trusting it, and separating what the sample does from what the setup does. I bring that discipline to every team I lead. This site goes deeper than my LinkedIn profile: what I built, how I measured it, and what I learned.
